Nathien the Lonely

He's a sad, abandoned dark elf mage with a detailed background setting
and a story that'd involve another sad abandoned dark elf, most possibly some fighter.
It was a soulmate story, but I hope that the fact that they were prevented from recognizing
each other right away put a bit of a twist in it...?
Something-something, shenanigans, Nathien grew up without that feeling all dark elves possess that somewhere, there was a soulmate waiting for him. This is unlikely, though not unheard of; but quite a miserable existence so once he grew up, he left his homeland to work as a sorcerer for hire.
The original story had him entering the service of a benevolent lord who had some supernatural kind of trouble and that's how he met the other sad abandoned dark elf.
Nathien is rather sombre and a little depressed, though it doesn't hinder him in being polite and civil and generally rather pleasant to be around. There's just a lingering sense of sadness around him and he does not hope that he'll ever find true happiness... Momentarily, maybe, and he's actually not quite opposed against the idea. He just wants to be loved so that persistent ache in his soul could ease a bit.
